My Bedside Drawer!

I was laid in bed last night and fumbling around in the dark in my bedside drawer! I was trying to find my lip balm, but I have so much stuff in there, it was quite difficult! So I thought I'd share my bedtime drawer contents with you and see if you have as much crap (ahem) *stuff* as me in yours!

Here goes!
2x bars of Lindt! (Don't ask!)
A can of Diet Coke
A dummy for my son (just in case!)
A pen
A Notebook
Eyedrops
Lip Balm
Connection USB lead for my BlackBerry
A portable CD player
A set of Juggling Balls (Trying to teach myself for *fun* supposedly!)
Ear-phones for my iPod
Several more note books
A mini set of office stationary (inc scissors, sellotape, highlighter pen)
A Simon Cowell Biography
An emery board
A torch

Here, have a look!

Ooh the shame! What a mess!

A Creative and Time Saving Way to Land a Job!

I LOVE this video - what an amazingly simple yet very creative idea!!

I got this video from the blogsite of Ian Sohn - see here.

What I love about it is that it taps into human nature - the big corporate guys wanting to 'Google' themselves! Plus it catches their attention, intrigues them and makes them flock to the candidate rather than the candidate trying to make himself heard amongst everyone else who is in the job market.

I'd love to think of some ways I could use this idea - do you have any thoughts?!

Did your Mum Tell You it's Not Nice to Punch?!

...mine did but she meant people - not my super awesome new punch bag!!

Here is my son trying it out!

This punch-bag is going to be my salvation during the school summer holidays!

With young children it is impossible to get to the gym to exercise so my usual classes will have to wait 6 weeks! But I still want to get in shape so we will be doing lots of running at the park but I also plan to get on my punch bag regularly!

As it is at home, I can watch the kids and work out at the same time! I just get them set up with some colouring books and I can snatch 25 mins to do some cardio!

What is your salvation during the school holidays Mums? ....

Play Doh Review- School Holiday Lifesaver!

It was the first day of the Spring Bank school holidays and I'd already run out of ideas! So I was relieved when the post girl arrived with my package - containing this!

This little kit contains everything you need to shape, mould and create lots of fun new Play Doh shapes - including two mini pots of the actual Doh, so you can get started!

My kids took it in turns to make shapes and they loved it - here are some photos:

and here:

It is suitable for ages 3 and over, and my 7 year old says "It was really fun! You can let your friends play and enjoy it too"
Bless her!

The Play Doh Fun Factory is available from practically all toy retailers - just do a Google search - the cheapest will come up!

It certainly helped me to enjoy a fun filled morning with the kids that cost us nothing - highly recommended!

An Anniversaire to Remember!

We've just celebrated our anniversary and we went here.

It is called Headlam Hall and it is gorgeous!

The funny thing about it though is that after we'd booked the weekend, my husbands Nanna said that her husband (Simon's late Grandad) used to work there as a chauffeur for the former owners of the house and that they lived on site! This was when it was still a country pile rather than a commercial hotel but it is still a family run business.

So they lived rent free on a 17th Century Estate - I wouldn't mind a bit of that!

It was so relaxing - I'd highly recommend it!!

Stuck for Blog Content? Here's How to Get Some - Fast!

I was surfing the web recently, late one Tuesday evening and I came across this post which really inspired me.

The author, David Risley, says how you can create lots of blog content using stuff you already have. I'm a massive fan of not re-inventing the wheel, and I do have 5 years worth of press releases, feature articles and copy from within my business that I can re-purpose into great time saving podcasts. ...So I did!

It took me about 1 hour late on this Tuesday evening, when I was ready for bed, but was motivated to see what I could produce, and I produced 3 short podcasts that will become 3 separate blog posts for Time Management Mum! It is genius to use your already written content! Why didn't I think of this before!!

Look out for the podcasts over the coming weeks.

A V Glam Awards Night!

The 42 Under 42 Awards is an annual round up of the 42 most 'up and coming' entrepreneurs in Yorkshire in any year. I was named as one of the '42' a few years ago but this year I was invited to go to the awards as an 'old bird'. They didn't use those words exactly - it was more along the lines of "As a previous winner..."

So me and my mumpreneur pal Sarah Ainslie got out our feather boas to go to this years awards!

This is us on the red carpet!

... and this is our close up!

Sarah is the glam brunette - I am the glam blonde!!

Then the next two pictures were taken after we'd had a few drinks!

and

What a night!

Review: The Knomo Laptop Range

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a fashion lover. I also love quality, colour, sensual fabrics, individuality and a bit of luxury too! So think how bowled over I was to see the new Knomo range of stylish laptop carry cases.

The pink quilted Slim was beautifully made - I loved the plush quilted interior - for those of us who think of our businesses as 'babies', it is like putting my business laptop baby to bed in an exquisitely regal bed - and the bonus is that I look like a business 'babe' when I'm using it!

I loved how the Knomo range are not only beautiful to look at but practical to use - there is substance and design - not one sacrificing the other. It has frustrated me for years that if you are a business woman, it seems assumed that we won't want our accessories to look pretty - as if business doesn't mean you can also be feminine, but Knomo are the antidote to this. This is the gorgeous Teeli design which is a laptop case and briefcase and as you can see it is far from 'butch' - AND it is only £60!!

Stylish women CAN have both an attractive design led accessory that also meets their business needs, and get the quality we expect when we make our spending choice. If you are going to the CyberMummy Conference next month, I'll be there with my Knomo Briefcase!

Race for Life - Having the Time of My Life!

When I ran the Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research last year, I had no expectations other than I just wanted to finish! It was a 5k run, jog or walk (I went somewhere in between jogging and walking) and I finished in 50 minutes. I have to admit that it nearly did me in though! My legs were jelly afterwards and it took me ages to recover!

So this year my goal was to do the 5k in less than 50 minutes when I ran the Race for Life just a few weeks ago. I felt more confident this year because I knew I'd done it once and this always helps! I didn't really mind what time I did as long as it was less than 50 minutes, but I would have loved to have done it in 45.

I completed the 5k race in 40 minutes and 17 seconds! Shaving a whole ten minutes off my time of last year!! I can't begin to describe how good that felt!

This picture shows me last year (on the right) and this year (on the left)

You can probably see I've lost some weight since last year!

My fundraising page is still open in case you would like to sponsor me and help raise funds for Cancer Research. See it here.

I got such a 'high' from completing the race and doing it in such a great time that I feel a bit addicted to it! I've already signed up for next year's race and to keep me fit over the summer I've also signed up to run again next month at another Race for Life!
